Reviews Which Understand the Lived Experience of a Person Living in Poverty in 2023

 Wednesday 8th March 2023, 1.00-2.30pm

The cost of living crisis has hit the headlines and effects us all. However, the service users we work with in the safeguarding and domestic abuse sector may be working from a very different baseline. Poverty means something different when it is considered as a more pervasive problem. You could call it a 20 or 30 year crisis. Of course, there are new layers added as a result of the latest pressures we are all facing with rising costs.

Reviews regularly consider the 'failure' of practitioners to gain access to service users, and more generally to understand their lived experience. When attendance at appointments drops off, this makes it harder to stay in touch and families or vulnerable people are considered 'hard to reach'.

How are we supporting parents, young people or other service users who live in poverty to help inform policy and service design? This might bring about important innovations which support increased opportunity to stay in touch and understand their lived experience. How might this look?

I am offering an opportunity to explore the lived experience of a family living in poverty in 2023 with Joseph Howes, Chief Executive of Buttle UK. For this FREE virtual training opportunity, we are offering 90 minutes of discussion, creative insights and plenty of opportunity for Q and A.
