Reviews That Generate Learning for Organisational Leaders

 Thursday 12th May 2022, 1.00-2.30pm

Which actions undertaken by leaders create confidence & support for the work force to tackle the challenges of safeguarding? And when are the messages sent by leaders less helpful? This affects every review we undertake.

In my role as Head of Law I worked in a highly political environment. Leaders were constantly juggling priorities. And the review has the power to change priorities.

The power of sector led improvement.

Review outcomes are less often directed at leaders. And those who craft the recommendation are rarely involved in action planning activity. So where is the responsibility landing?

The challenge for recommendations is to provide clarity of focus. Are they clear as to exactly where the responsibility for the recommended actions lie? Without this the action that follows can be diluted or misinterpreted in its execution.

What are the unintended outcomes when improvement activity is directed towards ‘all agencies’? And is it possible for actions to maintain momentum or even gain traction unless they are supported by a senior leader who will champion the cause?

For this virtual training opportunity, I am joined by Natasha Rennolds, Natasha is a PhD Researcher in Education at the University of East Anglia mainly exploring how staff and young people build and sustain relationships in different learning environments, what impacts the ‘doing’ of the relationships and how learning comes to be recognised.

I am Donna Ohdedar, & I support review commissioners, participants, quality assurance professionals & reviewers to improve the quality of reviews. I want to share a live conversation I will be having with Natasha where we will respond to questions from you, the live audience.

You are invited to this free live podcast workshop designed for those involved in Safeguarding Adult Reviews, Domestic Homicide Reviews & Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews.

Join us for 90 minutes of discussion plus Q & A, where we will share our thoughts & invite questions from you, the audience. Our aim is to shed light on the situations we encounter in reviews just like the ones you contribute to, read, quality assure or write.
