The 12 month programme for those who insist on strong analysis in their review reports
When a request to prepare an IMR lands there’s no warning. For most, there’s no adjustment in terms of the requirements of the day job. And at the same time, the stakes are high & there’s no room to compromise on quality. Timescales must be met. Support for the author to undertake the work for the review is vital. But it’s not the only piece of the jigsaw.
If we expect those who commission, write & quality assure IMRs to be able to respond to these requests when they land, the foundational work is equally important.
How does best practice look when we are commissioning, writing or quality assuring an IMR*? How regularly does it look this way in practice? When the requirement lands it’s natural to want to produce the best quality, but there’s a supportive framework that facilitates that.
Organisations who lay the framework by creating an all-year-round supportive framework are the ones who equip their teams for the on-the-spot requirement. This means that professionals have been involved in structured input & discussion around
👉 addressing terms of reference
👉 proportionality
👉 recommendations
👉 systemic analysis
👉 governance
👉 transparency
But it doesn’t end there. The downloads tend to occur when practitioners have reviewed & discussed a number of IMRs & embarked on an experiential learning journey, offering comments on reports from a variety of reviews.
