The Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Children’s Safeguarding Partnerships Local Child Safeguarding Practice Review

The Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Children’s Safeguarding Partnerships are seeking to jointly commission 2 experienced independent reviewers to lead a Local Child Safeguarding Practice Review (LCSPR).

Overview of Circumstances

A Local Child Safeguarding Practice Review is being jointly commissioned by Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Childrens Partnerships to examine the experiences of a group of children who were sexually abused or potentially abused by an adult of concern. Confirmed abuse occurred within a holiday camp environment for children, and the individual of concern is known to have worked or volunteered in several other education and faith settings where they had contact with children.

Scope and Review Themes

  • The experiences of the children as a group, including how contact was established and whether statutory responsibilities at the time were sufficient to protect them.
  • How children’s demographics and individual needs (such as race, disability, religion, cultural needs, or levels of deprivation) impacted their vulnerability and whether these factors influenced safeguarding responses and decision-making.
  • Learning about the processes schools use to monitor individuals entering the school for regulated and unregulated activities, and whether these processes are effective.
  • The safeguarding role of schools and faith settings in promoting activities for children and ensuring safe environments, including that there are adequate procedures and records in place.

Experience and Skills Required

We are seeking two authors; one with expertise in relation to the religious and charitable elements of the review and one with expertise in deprivation and diversity. The authors will compliment each other to undertake this joint review.

New reviewers begin their independent review journey every day. Draw on the relevant experience you have from your background, the soft skills you can bring to this review & the vision you have for the review in question. A well crafted application with reference to the circumstances of the particular review is more relevant and desirable than a standard application designed for any review which references a bank of review experience.
