A 79 year old man received fatal injuries in February 2024. These injuries involved a six centimetre cut on his right arm which led to a hospital admission and multiple organ failure. A 32 year old female who was in a relationship of some kind with the male, which may have involved prostitution, is the alleged perpetrator having using finger nails to occasion the injuries. Issues of control within the relationship and economic dynamics were a potential issue. In August 2024 the female died of cancer. The manslaughter charges were dropped. Both adults could have been considered as vulnerable. Ten agencies were involved in the case including two which offered domestic abuse support and had been contacted by the female. The female had four children who are now in the care of a relative. The female was known to mental health services.
