Local Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews for the Warwickshire Safeguarding Children Partnership Board 


Warwickshire Safeguarding Children Partnership Board 
is commissioning reviewers for 3 Local Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews.



Details:

Case 1: child under 10 

The focus of the review will be on what prohibits identification of cumulative harm following experiences of Neglect: poor parental supervision and control, exposure to violent movies and video games and domestic abuse and where there are displays of sexualised behaviour, anger and aggression.

Case 2: child teenager

The focus of the review will be on what prohibits identification of cumulative harm where there are re-occurrent themes arising in assessing person who pose a risk, to intra and extra-familial sexual abuse, children who sexually harm others, domestic abuse, neglect, mental health.

The review will likely include the following learning themes:

  • Assessing person who pose a risk high risk domestic abuse, sexual abuse

  • Neglect: inconsistent care, poor home conditions, poor health and education conditions

  • Prevention of suicide and responding to mental health

  • Assessing risk of sexual abuse including children who sexually harm others and, safe and effective planning

  • Information sharing and record keeping across the professional networks including cross border/with OLA

  • Assessing accumulative indicators of risk, application of thresholds and effective intervention

 
 
Case 3: child under 5

The focus of the review will be on what prohibits identification and effective response in relation to risks, parental vulnerability and assessment of cumulative harm and how single/multi-agency practice can be strengthened.

The review will likely include the following learning themes: 

  •  Assessing parental vulnerability and accumulative indicators of risk relating to sexual abuse, domestic abuse, substance misuse and poor mental health. 
  •  Assessing persons posing a risk to children
  •  Visibility of fathers in assessment
  •  Pre-birth assessment
  •  Effective planning 
  •  Trauma informed insights to practice
  •  Disguised compliance
  •  Care Leaver assessment, risk and support
  •  Information sharing and record keeping. 
  •  Cross border working
  •  Use of multi-agency escalations procedures

The Independent Reviewer will be required to submit:

  • curriculum vitae (CV) 
  • links to examples of any publications 
  • references/referees in relation to previous reviews delivered
